DBC remain ready and prepared to provide our usual quality training at this time. 

DBC has introduced processes for controlling the risk presented for people joining our team for IRATA training. These include obtaining declarations to ensure anyone who joins us understands their responsibilities under DBC's pandemic plan.

To protect against the risk of exposure to COVID 19 everyone at our premises is required to practice
physical distancing at all times; follow hygiene protocols; avoid sharing training equipment, use gloves provided, participate in regularly disinfecting training equipment; use hand sanitiser which is available throughout the premises. Follow DBC SWMS controls. Please do not attend training if you are unwell.

Internationally recognised training in the Illawarra: 

DBC provide training and assessment for IRATA Levels 1, 2 and 3 at our training facility in Bulli NSW. 

4 days practical training followed by 1 day's independent assessment.

The cost of training and assessment is $1,760 (incl. GST) per person. 

Established in Wollongong in 1998, DBC pioneered the use of rope access trade services for heavy industry in NSW and we continue to provide local jobs for rope access technicians. Many candidates who complete their training with DBC have gone on to work with DBC. Our courses are presented by professional rope access technicians who work in the industry. They will give you first hand, their insight into working both offshore and onshore. 

Level 1 Course Requirements 

• No prior experience • Aptitude for heights • Reasonable level of fitness • Minimum age of 18 years old • No medical contraindication.

Level 2 and 3 upgrades must present a valid up to date IRATA logbook.

Training Support
Prior to the course you will be supplied with a DBC training manual, IRATA International Code of Practice (ICOP) and the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme (TACS). If you have the opportunity, please review these documents prior to your IRATA training. Also take a good look at our FAQ page and all the information available at irata.org

At DBC IRATA training you come face to face with experienced trainers who also happen to do some of the most remarkable rope work around. Our trainers are rope access professionals with knowledge of many different real world rope access situations. Patrick Hartigan Bio

Patrick is a highly regarded and experienced IRATA instructor, who has served on IRATA's international Training Committee.  He also has extensive experience from industrial, mining, and resources sectors having managed large rope access projects on sites across Australia. With a history in leadership roles and extensive training in WHS, Patrick is the perfect fit for our high standards. 

Pavel Puskar Bio

Pavel has many year's experience both as an instructor and a rope access professional working in some of the most demanding rope access sites on the planet. As a professional Pavel is Project Coordinator / Level 3 Supervisor participating in major industrial maintenance projects both onshore and on offshore installations.

Pavel shares DBC's passion for the rope access industry and together our approach acknowledges the importance of thorough training from the very beginning of your career as well as when updating and refining your skills in rope access. DBC training is conducted in small groups with plenty of time for one on one instruction and practice. We will make sure you are assessment ready. 

Pavel has excellent communication skills and possesses a deep knowledge of the technical aspects of rope access. He will give you the finest introduction to rope access or mentor you through upgrading your qualification.

Jimmy McGregor Bio

Jimmy has been mentored as an IRATA instructor by one of the most experienced trainers in the country: Pavel Puskar. 
As a professional rope access trades technician, Jimmy has worked on some of most challenging rope access jobs in Australia. He is also an advanced scaffolder and tradesmen. Jimmy brings his industry knowledge and dedication to rope access best practice to his training. 

Jayson Robertson

Jay is a highly respected and experienced IRATA Supervisor and advanced rigger with many years experience in both heavy industrial and commercial settings. From heritage painting for the Mark Foys building in Darlinghurst to conducting waterproofing and repairs to the air force radar dome Bathurst Island in the Northern Territory. Jay is a natural leader and exceptional trainer. 

Dane Atkins Bio 

Dane has many year's experience as a rope access trainer, professional rope access technician, advanced rigger and as a height safety manager. He has expertise in geotechnical scenarios for rope access as well as in demanding environments like heavy industry shutdown maintenance. 

As a trainer Dane is an excellent communicator who has been a rope access trainer and assessor for over 10 years. 

Dane shares DBC's passion for the rope access industry and together our approach acknowledges the importance of thorough training from the very beginning of your career and when updating and refining your skills in rope access.
